  Latest Headline March 2009

We apologize for not keeping the site updated, but we would like to put up some positive news or events revolving around ORV recreation in Wyoming and there hasn't been any. The latest example can be found in the North Bridger-Teton Travel Plan. At the start of the planning process, the forest service introduced a series of maps for each geographic area. These maps were the "starting point" for comments and ideas. Two years of comments, calls, field trips and open houses resulted in losses of motorized routes in each of the geographic areas from those "starting points". Considering the outcome, it is doubtful that the results would have been any worse had we sent the B-T a bunch of postcards with bullet points, names and addresses.

Welcome Off-Highway vehicle Enthusiasts

In 2003 the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council assembled representatives from numerous off-highway vehicle groups from around the state. That summit resulted in the formation of the Motorized Recreation Council of Wyoming.

The issues that concern OHV enthusiasts are dynamic. Issues that were of critical importance a few years ago can quickly be overshadowed by current events. This environment demands that we re-examine our role on a regular basis to identify what direction the organization needs to take to remain effective for our members.

Below we have identified strategies we think will strengthen the ability of Wyoming’s OHV community to be effective in improving, maintaining and monitoring motorized recreation opportunities across the state.

Help develop and sustain local OHV organizations

Regularly update land management actions that will impact the OHV community

Advance the implementation of the Wyoming State Trails Plan

Educate Wyoming’s OHV community on how they can be effective advocates for OHV recreation

Facilitate cooperative agreements between OHV enthusiasts and land management agencies

We invite you to join us in building an organization that will be an effective resource for Wyoming’s off-highway vehicle community.

Happy trails,

MRC of Wyoming
